Steps to take before the procedure
It is important to inform your doctor on the medicines you take. Your doctor should exactly know about any medication that you might take, such as arthritis medicines, blood thinners, BP medicines, and diabetes medicines. You will need to empty your bowel, and therefore, cannot eat or drink, at least 10 hours before the procedure.

What happens during the procedure?
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia. You will lie on a treatment couch, and an endoscope tube will be inserted into your mouth. You will be asked to swallow the thin tube. A tiny camera attached to the tube will help the doctor monitor the images on the screen. The patient will not feel anything during the procedure. The endoscope will be pulled out at the end of the procedure.
