Indore, April 5, 2024: In today's fast-paced life, we often neglect our health, but maintaining health is a crucial priority in human life. Irregular routines, unbalanced diets, and lack of exercise negatively impact our health. World Health Day is celebrated every year on April 7 to raise awareness about health. This year's theme is "My Health, My Right," aiming to make health services fundamentally accessible to everyone. On the occasion of World Health Day, experts from Medanta Super Specialty Hospital, Indore, have suggested some important tips for leading a healthy life.
Dr. Sandeep Shrivastava, Medical Director and Director of Cardiac Sciences at Medanta Super Specialty Hospital, said, "The increasing cases of heart attacks among youth and adolescents are concerning. Heart-related problems such as heart strokes, heart attacks, and valve issues are becoming common. Issues that were previously seen in older individuals are now prevalent among those aged 20-30. Genetic factors, stress, inadequate sleep, physical inactivity, pollution, obesity, poor lifestyle, smoking, alcohol, irregular lifestyle, high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol are continuously increasing the risk of heart attacks. To avoid heart attacks, it is essential to adopt a balanced lifestyle. Reduce stress, get adequate sleep, exercise regularly, eat healthy food, avoid smoking and alcohol, maintain a healthy weight, and get regular health check-ups."
Dr. Rajneesh Kachhara, Senior Neurosurgeon (Director - Institute of Neurosciences) and HOD of the Neuro Surgery Department at Medanta Super Specialty Hospital, provided information about brain strokes, saying, "A brain stroke occurs due to a blockage in the blood vessels supplying the brain. This problem is not only affecting the elderly but also the young at a rapid pace. Symptoms of a stroke appear immediately. Numbness in the face, sudden numbness or weakness in the arm or leg are signs of a stroke. Paralysis on one side of the body from hand to foot, sudden severe headache, difficulty in speaking, unclear speech, or a crooked mouth are also symptoms of a stroke. Time is of utmost importance in a stroke; if treatment is received within the golden hour, the condition can improve, but with each passing moment, the patient's condition worsens. Today, medical science has advanced to the point where modern and advanced treatments, neuro interventions, neurosurgery, and medications are available. The chances of recovering from a brain stroke depend on the time at which the patient receives treatment. To prevent strokes, it is necessary to control chronic diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol. Minimize stress, avoid smoking and alcohol, and adopt a healthy lifestyle."
