At Medanta Cancer Institute (Division of Radiation Oncology) we have the following technology

• Cyberknife VSI, a first in India, installed and commissioned for stereotactic robotic radiotherapy. It can treat cancer and non cancer tumors by real time detection and tracking.
• The VMAT (volumetric arc therapy) on Infinity and SBRT/SRS on Synergy-S, a first in India Linear accelerators were started in Feb, 2010 at Medanta-The Medicity. VMAT reduces the radiation delivery time to 5-7 minutes even for the most complex Intensity Modulated Radio Therapy (IMRT) and permits biological planning. The delivery of treatment is verified with Image Guidance (IGRT) for all cases undergoing VMAT. Over 2000 cancer patients have been treated on the two linear accelerators, since 2010.

An Integrated Brachytherapy Unit (IBU) for intra operative and post operative treatments for cancer cervix and soft tissue sarcomas along with prostate seed implants to extend ultimate conformal radiation for early tumors or as a boost along with external beam treatment is available with us.

At Medanta – The Medicity we provide innovative techniques such as Robotic RadioSurgery with the world’s first Cyberknife VSI system; Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) with X-Ray Volume Imaging (XVI) giving a virtual CT scan on the Linear accelerator in real time. The availability of molecular imaging in the form of PET-CT for fusion with MRI (3.0 Tesla), CT Scan (256 slice) and CT –Simulation (32 slice) is available to minimize geographic miss as well as optimize the tumor coverage. A protocol based approach for management of brain tumors, head and neck cancers, breast cancer, gynecological cancers, urological malignancies, soft tissue sarcomas, lymphomas, pediatric tumors, gastro intestinal and lung cancer has been established to ensure an international standard of care.
